If you are tired of fixing the error “You may be a victim of counterfeting” or “Your software is counterfeit” at startup, it happens after installing the genuine copy of Microsoft Windows XP. Even if you have visited Microsoft site to solve this trouble it will never be fixed. You can follow these simple steps to solve this trouble.
•Just navigate to the following address C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files.
•Then remove all the files and folders that have .wga extension.
•After doing this, just rush to Safe Mode by pressing F8 key while your system boots.
•Then go to C:\Windows\System32 (Rename wgatray.exe to wgatrayold.exe).
•Then go to C:\Windows\System32\dllcache (Rename wgatray.exe to wgatrayold.exe).
•Here DLLCACHE is a hidden file, so that you have to enable “Show Hidden Files and Folders option”.

•Go to start menu and choose Run, then type Regedit and click OK.
•Then navigate to the following path HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\WGALOGON
•After navigating, Right click and export the WGALOGON Folder. You can use this folder for backup purpose; therefore, you have to save this folder in your local disk.
•Once you have backup the folder, you can delete the WGALOGON folder.
•Then restart your system and get back to normal mode.
•Then rush here, and manually re-validate the copy of your windows.
•Then restart again.
